I think CBT can help to a certain extent but my experience is that OCD is
quite refractory; squash one obsession or compulsion and another will pop
up sooner or later.
OCD is of course a disorder driven by anxiety so any treatment or lifestyle
changes aimed at reducing anxiety will help to some extent, but I don’t
believe there is a magic bullet…. in fact I’m not even convinced OCD
can be ‘cured’ for most people.
The techniques in this book did help me significantly! I tried a similar
technique for agoraphobia with minimal results, perhaps because the brain
circuits involved in the deeper fear response show less neuroplastic
