I still have access to the computer with the PIN, but I want to find out if I can recover or reset the password. I need this because I am required to enter the password when I try to connect my Windows Account in the sign-in options. If you choose to select I've forgotten my password option 1 in the link above make sure that the email Microsoft sends you goes to an email address you can access that does not depend on gaining access to the problem computer. If a drive is encrypted with BitLocker and you choose to not require any form of pre-boot authentication the system will simply boot and unlock when you login. If you encrypt a computer with BitLocker and chose to set a PIN, is there any way to later retract the pre-boot PIN requirement and revert back to the scenario above without first decrypting and re-encrypting? Unfortunately this simply removed the simple PIN and instead requires the recovery key. Using the same command to delete the recovery key breaks the system. If you try to remove the PIN by just removing the TPM and PIN key protector the only means of unlocking the drive available is Numerical Password, causing you to be prompted for the recovery key at every boot.
